Heritage Preaching Lectures 2026
Join us on Thursday, October 1st, 2026 for our annual Heritage Preaching Lectures happening at Heritage College & Seminary. The Heritage Preaching Lectures is an event that seeks to equip and encourage pastors and other ministry leaders with the tools needed to sharpen their skills to serve their churches and congregations. Explore how Scripture speaks hope into suffering and how faithful preaching can minister to those walking through seasons of pain as our speaker, Dr. Matthew Kim, speaks on the topic "A Homiletic for the Hurting."
Matthew D. Kim is professor of preaching and pastoral leadership, holder of the George W. Truett Endowed Chair in Preaching and Evangelism, and director of the PhD in preaching program at Baylor University’s Truett Seminary in Waco, Texas. He received degrees from Carleton College, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and The University of Edinburgh. He served in pastoral ministry as a youth pastor, college pastor, and senior pastor for a decade prior to his teaching ministry. Matt is a past president of the Evangelical Homiletics Society and a senior fellow of the Center for Pastor Theologians. He is the author and editor of numerous books, including most recently,Ready to Preach: An Introduction to Homiletics and _Becoming a Friendlier Church: A Pathway to Genuine Community_both published by Baker Publishing Group in 2026. Matt was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He and his family currently live in Waco, Texas, and are active members at Highland Baptist Church. They enjoy playing basketball and pickleball.
